Is Bear Wallet really free?
Yes. Bear Wallet is free to download and every feature is available at no cost. There are no ads and no paid tier.
Do I need an account?
No. Bear Wallet asks for no registration, no email address and no phone number. You can start recording transactions the moment it finishes installing.
Where is my financial data stored?
On your device. Your accounts, records, budgets and planned payments are written to local storage on your phone. Open Bear does not transmit or store your personal finance data on its servers — see the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Does it work offline?
Yes, all core features work with no connection at all. The internet is used for one thing only: fetching current currency exchange rates.
Can I track more than one currency?
Yes. Create accounts in as many currencies as you need, choose a main currency and number format during setup, and convert between currencies on the built-in exchange screen.
Is my data backed up to the cloud?
No — and that is deliberate. Keeping data on-device means there is no server of ours to breach, but it also means losing or resetting your phone loses your records. Treat your device backup as your wallet backup.
How do I delete everything?
Clear the data from within the app, or uninstall Bear Wallet. Because nothing is stored on our side, uninstalling removes it completely. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
