About

One developer building software that leaves you alone

Open Bear Organization makes mobile applications that are free of charge, free of ads, and free of the data collection that funds most of the app store.

Our mission

Most useful software is now paid for indirectly. You do not hand over money — you hand over attention, behaviour and personal data, and someone else sells them. That trade is rarely explained and almost never optional.

Open Bear exists to show that the trade is not necessary. We build small, focused apps that do one job properly and keep your information where it belongs: on your own device. If an app of ours can work without a server, it works without a server.

What "free" means to us

"Free software" is a phrase that gets stretched. Rather than lean on it, here is exactly what we commit to for every Open Bear application:

  • Free of charge. Every feature, for everyone, at no cost — no trial, no locked core, no upsell.
  • Free of advertising. No banners, no interstitials, no sponsored placement inside the product.
  • Free of tracking. We do not sell or broker personal data and we do not build advertising profiles. Our apps carry no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs at all.
  • Free of accounts. No sign-up, no email, no phone number. Nothing to log into means nothing of yours to leak.
  • Free to leave. Your data is on your device. Deleting the app deletes it — no request form, no retention window.

To be straightforward about it: Open Bear applications are distributed as compiled apps through the App Store and Google Play. Open Bear advocates for software that respects its users — it is not a publisher of open-source projects, and "Open" in the name refers to that stance rather than to published source code. We would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise.

How the work is paid for

Open Bear is one developer, working independently and paying for the work themselves. There are no investors, no advertising contracts, no data partnerships and no revenue of any kind — which is precisely what makes the commitments above possible to keep. It also means Open Bear is not an incorporated company; it is an independent project based in Vietnam.

What we've built

One application today. We would rather ship a single app that is genuinely good than a portfolio that is merely large.

  • Bear Wallet — a personal finance app for iOS and Android. Track income and expenses across multiple accounts and currencies, set monthly budgets, schedule recurring payments and convert currencies. All records stay on your device. (Privacy · Terms)
